This was incorrect.

The Club will be open as usual on that day until 3.00 p.m. with the bar open at lunchtime.

Also, unfortunately the Christmas Party Game scheduled for Saturday 19th December has been cancelled due to their being insufficient numbers of people wishing to take part in this event.

We are fortunate that for the 2015/2016 season two of our members, namely Maurice Rhymer and Doreen Lovering, have become Presidents of the two County Associations.

We wish them well and hope they both have Happy and Successful seasons.

Club Competitions

This is a final reminder to enter the club competitions. Your entry form should be handed in by the end of October. The indoor committee hope that many of you will enter the competitions especially the two new mixed ones. Relocation Update

The RBWM Planning Officer has requested an extension to the planning application date and therefore we believe the Council’s decision as to planning approval on the Green Lane site will now be no earlier than December 2015.

Thank you to all members who have written to the Planners expressing their support of the proposed move – your assistance is much appreciated.

Membership 2015/16

Thank you to all members who have renewed their membership and paid the subs due.

Newsletter – September 2015

A Welcome from the Management and Indoor Committees to everyone for the 2015/2016 season

We hope you all enjoyed the summer, whether playing or not, and hope you will enjoy the new Indoor season.

Please join in the matches, competitions and events that have been organised, as the more people participating the better the atmosphere in the club.

Although it is very early, the first rounds of the Denny, Yetton, Mason and Top Club have all to be played before the end of October

Teams have been selected and notices placed on both the Men’s and Women’s boards. Please check to see if your name is there. It is hoped that if selected, you can play, but if you cannot please let the named person on the sheets aware.

The weekend matches start on the 3rd October with a game against Oxford and District.

Val White and Maurice Rhymer will once again be carrying out match selection on Mondays mornings. Please give them plenty of names to choose from.

If you are a newish bowler and have not yet put your name down, please do so. You will gain experience and enjoy meeting bowlers from other clubs.

The forms to enter all club competitions are available from the office. The indoor committee would like to see more participation especially from newish bowlers, as again it helps to improve standard

This season two new mixed competitions have been introduced, a nominated mixed fours (2&2 or 3&1) and a nominated mixed triples.

The mixed leagues and mixed matches already in the calendar are extremely popular and the Indoor committee therefore hope that these two new competitions will also prove to be.

Final date for entries for all competitions is the end of October. The Competition secretary for both men’s and Women’s competitions is Eileen Devonald- Batt.

The club is still hoping to increase the mailing addresses held, if you have not yet given your e-mail address to the club, please do so via the Club Manager Colin Brown. The fact that we can communicate directly and quickly with members is proving to be a great benefit.

Relocation Update

The proposed move of Desborough Bowling Club to a new site in Green Lane, Maidenhead has now progressed with a local developer with an Option Agreement having now been executed between both parties.

A full planning application has now been submitted to the Planning Authority and we should receive their decision on or before the 8th November 2015.

It is anticipated that, subject to planning approval being granted, the new Bowling Club will be completed by the Autumn of 2017.

Details of the architectural plans of the new proposed Club facilities are displayed on the Club notice boards

Newsletter – May 2015

Most of you, if you play out-doors, will by now have had the opportunity to venture on to the outdoor greens. It is therefore opportune to give some information about the end of the 2014/2015 season.

National Competitions

The club did exceptionally well in the national team events, reaching the finals in the Mason trophy, Yetton trophy, Top Club and Egham Trophy and, whilst not winning any of the competitions, the appearance of Desborough at all these finals was something that no other club achieved.

Annual General meeting

The meeting was attended by approx. 50 members and an appeal for new committee members resulted in several new members volunteering to serve, although disappointingly, these did not include any Indoor players.

One major decision made, was that the club would not be entering the Vivienne Competition next season, but would instead enter three teams in the Mason Trophy (over 60’s). Effectively, this will enable the Yetton trophy to use all the women members as players and not have players ‘Cup-tied’. This decision will be reviewed at the end of the 2015/2016 season.

The question of rolling the jack in the men’s evening leagues resulted in a majority in favour. This will be discussed by the indoor committee before a decision is announced.

Committee for 2015/2016

Chairman                             Jessie Clark

Secretary                             Chris Howard

Match Secretary              Doreen Lovering

Competitions                     Eileen Devonald Batt

The next committee meeting will decide other positions.

2015/2016 Season Competitions and Leagues

The Indoor committee hope that many of you will enter competitions for next winter. We are intending to hold some drawn competitions, so entries can be made by individuals and drawn into teams by the competitions secretary.

The handicap singles attracted 18 entries, which as a new competition was reasonable; hopefully many more of you will enter next year.

Entries are still be required for the new Tuesday morning mixed league, so far 4 teams have indicated interest, we need 6 teams to make the league worthwhile. Please let Colin Brown know if you want to enter a team.

The committee wish everyone a good summer; we hope the weather is kind to us. And we look forward to seeing you again in September.

2015/2016 Season

NOW is the time to start thinking of entering competitions, both nationally and internally within the club for next season.                Please also think about forming new teams to enter the various Leagues, particularly the new morning mixed league which is planned to start at 10.30am on a Tuesday. This league will run in conjunction with the long established Friday morning league and teams may enter one or both leagues, although the new team squads will be restricted to sign a maximum of 10 players, to allow more teams to be made up.

Friday Mixed Fours.

This league is extremely popular, with more players wishing to join and with this in mind, the Indoor committee are considering establishing two mixed leagues for the 2015/2016 season, to be potentially played at 10.30 on Tuesday and Friday. The leagues will be run separately and a team may be entered in either or both leagues. There would be a limit of 10 players per team squad so that more teams can be formed, to fill both leagues.
