Newsletter – January 2016

The second half of the season is well underway, indoors seems a good place to be with all the rain and wind which we are experiencing.

Rolling the Jack.

The introduction of rolling the jack for the Men’s leagues and Afternoon leagues has created much controversy. Rolling the jack has been a part of the women’s league for many years. In the autumn a questionnaire was given to all team captains asking for comments on rolling the jack and it was from these answers that the indoor committee took the decision to introduce the system.

This session will be used as an experiment and the matter will be discussed at the Annual General Meeting in April. If you have opinions on rolling the Jack please make sure you attend.

National Competitions

Sadly, Desborough exited all the National Team Events, at an earlier stage than of past years. The women played the Yetton on the 16th January and lost to Riverain by 22 shots.  Desborough C played Hatfield in the Mason Trophy on the 22nd January and lost by 3 shots.

In the Individual National Competitions. We still have representatives in the Women’s Fours, Women’s Pairs and the over 60s Pairs. Mary Price, Eileen Devonald batt, Lorraine Woodley and Helen Jones are the players involved.
