Desborough’s woes in the Kennet League continue. The A team faced Reading A and the quality of the opposition and the distraction of the football meant they slumped to a 14 – 0 defeat. The KLV threw up a match between Desborough’s A and B teams and the 55-42 scoreline in favour of the A team for a 10-0 result didn’t give a true reflection of the closeness of the game.
In the Ladies Royal Shield, Desborough hosted Windsor Great Park and although they won on 2 of the 3 rinks, they lost 56-48 with the best performance coming from Sylvia Laban, Rhona Pike and Gill O”Neill who won 22-14.

With the visitors winning on 3 of the 5 rinks and the hosts scraping home by 3 shots, it meant that the winner on a really hot day was the game of bowls. With Tony Devonald-Batt’s rink and that of Ray Weaver winning by 10 shots, the latter along with Michael Hobson, Nicola Jones and Rose Turner claimed the bragging rights on countback.
