The highlight of the Outdoor season is the away day and this year was no exception. The six rinks were shared and although the rinks skipped by Paul Winstanley and Roger Wyatt made a valiant effort to be top rink, they could not live with Ray Weaver, Brian Harris, Ching Crunden and Tony Buckley who won by 22 shots, 33-11.

The Kennet league concluded with Desborough’s A team finishing on a high with a 10-4 win over their local rivals Maidenhead Town A. John Young’s rink was victorious but the gloss on the victory came from John Brampton, Graeme Mason, Derek Devonald-Batt and the evergreen Michael White who won 29-11. The same couldn’t be said of the B side who followed a familiar pattern in losing 12-2 to Maiden Erlegh with the rinks skipped by Dick Bishop and Tony Buckley providing the only solace by drawing their respective games.
In the KLV league, Desborough’s A team fell to another 10-0 defeat, this time to Sunningdale. The B team finally had a result as they won 10-0 against Maidenhead Thicket.
In the TVL, Desborough’s Bluebells suffered a rare reverse as they went down 8-2 to Sunningdale with the only bright spot being provided by Ching Crunden, Rose Turner and Val White who won 21-11. The Buttercups had a win at Island Bohemian which was helped by a winning performance from Elaine Sharp, Pauline Tuttle and Jenny Bosley who won 18-16.
The week ended with Barry Gill playing against Roger Goodchild from Morland in the County Two Wood Champion of Champions semi final and gaining a facile victory to set up a final against ex-Desborough member Andy Knapper which will take place at Thatcham on August 12.
