Press Report – May 22, 2017


On Tuesday. 16th May, Desborough “B” travelled to Suttons for a Kennet League, Division 2 match. The teams shared the rinks 2 each however in a closely contested match Suttons came out overall winners, 71-75. Desborough 4 points and Suttons 10 points. Top rink for Desborough comprised Iain Burns, Bruce Adams, Mike Whittingham and Skip Paul Winstanley.

On Thursday. 18th May, Desborough “C” team travelled to Windsor & Eton for a Kennet LV, Division 3 match. Desborough were well beaten 31-59 against a strong Windsor & Eton Team. Points, W&E 10 Desborough 0.

On Thursday, 18th May both the Desborough Ladies teams were in action. The Desborough Bluebells played at home against Woodley losing 20-35 in a match curtailed by rain.

The Desborough Buttercups played away at Island Bohemian Cygnets, winning overall 28-22. This match also was reduced to 10 ends due to heavy rain.

On Friday 19th May, Desborough “B” played Sunningdale “A” in a Kennet LV, Division 2 match. Despite a strong performance by Desborough they lost overall by 2 shots, 42-44. Desborough won on one rink, Ralph Hatch, George Coussins and Skip, John Searle.

The weekend friendly matches resulted in Desborough being well beaten in the first leg of the Dessau Cup against High Wycombe, losing on 5 of the 6 rinks with an overall score of 90-131. Quite a challenge for Desborough to come back in the return fixture, due to be played at High Wycombe on the 18th June.

On Sunday 21st May, Desborough welcomed Battersbury Manor to York Road for the first ever fixture between the clubs. On a day when summer finally arrived a close competitive triples match was enjoyed by all, with Desborough winning on 3 of the 5 rinks but losing overall by 3 shots, 84-87. The top rink for Desborough was Val Wyatt, George Coussins and Skip Michael Whittingham
